2017
Africa Foundation celebrated its 25th year in May, 2017. Members of the community, andBeyond employees, members of the Africa Foundation team, Africa Foundation Trustees, finalists of the inaugural Africa Foundation Robin James Award with distinguished guests and Nkosi Gumede all gathered at Zuka House to celebrate this 25 year landmark in Africa Foundation’s timeline.
Dave Varty’s vision ignited the inception of Africa Foundation back in 1992 and he delivered a captivating speech that took the audience through the 25 year journey, from his initial idea to the current achievements of the foundation’s mission in partnership with andBeyond.
The mission, “empowering communities and enabling conservation” has been executed by dedicated community members across 6 African countries in 68 communities. Their tenacity and talents were recognised through the Robin James Award. The first Africa Foundation Robin James Award was bestowed on Mrs Nomusa Zikahli for her truly outstanding contribution to the Nkomo Primary school, Mduku.
